PA CareerLink® of Lancaster County provides employers with many financial incentives. The following resources are available to employers throughout Lancaster County:
The PA CareerLink® of Lancaster County On-the-Job Training (OJT) program allows businesses to offset some costs associated with training new hires. Businesses are reimbursed at least 50% of a new, eligible employee’s wages for a pre-determined time period.
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a Federal tax credit that encourages employers to hire job-seekers from any one of ten targeted groups. This one-year credit can reduce employer Federal Tax Liability by as much as $2,400 per new hire.
Tax breaks are available for hiring persons with disabilities and for making improvements to facilities making them accessible to persons with disabilities. Incidentally, many of the accessibility changes make it easier for employees and customers with disabilities to do their job or conduct business.
The Federal Bonding Program was created as an incentive to employers to hire at-risk, hard-to-place job seekers and may provide an employer a business insurance policy that protects an employer against loss of money or property due to employee dishonesty. The bond is good for six months up to the amount of $5,000 at no cost. To request a Federal Bond, the employer must call the Bonding Coordinator on the new employee’s start date. A simple 10-15 minute telephone interview takes place. A confirmation letter is then sent to the company and McLaughlin Company, who issues the bond directly to the employer. For further information please contact the State Bonding Coordinator at 717.787.6915 or 1.800.345.2555.
